Programme
A cultural and education programme is based on initiatives that will help to divulge the archival heritage and to support external cultural and education actions.
Organization of visits to allow a closer contact of citizens with documents and the perception of their physical and intellectual aspects.
Organization of exhibitions, conferences and debates on subjects concerned with the documentation, its contents or on the social and professional dynamics involved.
The production of thematic information on specific aspects of archives.
The training of people as a factor of promotion and preservation of future heritage.
To strengthen the relationship with the local community and to encourage cultural habits.
To open Arquivo Distrital do Porto to the civil community, namely through the collaboration of volunteers.
To welcome events that will promote knowledge on Porto city and region.
Education Service
The education programme of the Archive consists of:
Promoting school or group visits focused on the documental fonds, research tools, reference and reading service, repositories, technical services … with access to “public” and “private” spaces.
Supporting school activity within the scope of Archive/School/Environment projects.
Motivating different publics for the documental sources, including training and knowledge sharing, which stimulate a critical and multidisciplinary interconnection with different times, encouraging the access to a documental heritage with unique characteristics.
Preparation of education material in accordance with the official current school programmes, seeking to meet a wider range of students.
